Hi, I’m Jose. I’m a student at the University of Maryland double majoring in Mathematics and Finance, and I grew up in Comayagua, Honduras and just outside Washington D.C. in Clinton, MD.
I’m drawn to the places where math, markets, and policy overlap. Right now that means coursework in calculus and macro, getting better and better in Excel, SQL and Python through projects, and reading whatever I can find about how the Fed actually makes decisions. Being this close to DC has made the policy side feel a lot more real than it would on most campuses, and I’m trying to take advantage of that while I’m here.
Outside of school I like working out, iceskating and snowboarding, dancing, painting, traveling to new cities and national parks, and getting lost in history and geopolitics. I’m a sucker for sci-fi, thrillers, and crime movies — Se7en, Ocean’s 11 — and a big fan of Dune, Harry Potter, and the Marvel and DC universes.
This site is where I’ll be putting projects, writing, and anything else worth sharing as I build it out. If any of that sounds interesting, feel free to reach out.
